Fight against plastic pollution
Each year, 8 million tons of plastic end up in our oceans. This scourge has a disastrous impact on marine life.
To combat this man-made catastrophe, Odysseo has partnered with the Indian Ocean Commission to launch the Exploi project. It involves two main areas of collaboration:
• The conduction of research campaigns in the Indian Ocean region on topics relating to plastic pollution using the support research boats. Odysseo will then host the presentation of findings to the public.
•Launch of scientific and sensitisation programmes on the impact of plastic pollution on marine ecosystems, and the elaboration of upstream mitigative measures and their implementation. This will be done by enlisting the participation of local communities, including NGOs and schools.
