Translating Field-Based Larval Propagation to the Western Indian Ocean

Restoring coral reefs with cutting-edge SECORE techniques to ensure the future of marine life in the Indian Ocean

About the Coral Project

Coral reefs are among the most vital yet endangered ecosystems on Earth. Though they cover just 0.1% of the ocean, they support an astonishing 25% of all marine biodiversity.

In Mauritius, coral loss threatens coastal protection, food security, and marine biodiversity, making restoration efforts more crucial than ever.

The Odysseo Foundation, in collaboration with Secore International, the University of Mauritius, and Eco Sud, is pioneering a groundbreaking coral restoration approach in the Western Indian Ocean. This innovative method, based on coral sexual reproduction, marks a revolutionary step in ensuring the long-term resilience of coral reefs.
